Volunteers are needed to help create and deliver lunches for about 25-30 youth at our drop-in center. Please arrive between 11:00 and 11:30 a.m if planning to donate.

Join the Movement to End Hunger in Sacramento

Want to help Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services make an impact? They are always looking for volunteers to help sort donations, package food and bag produce. This is the first step in their process to feeding Sacramento, come and help put food on the table for families and individuals in our community!

Sorting & Packing Food at Salvation Army

Food boxes are packed using an assembly line to place cans and other non-perishables in boxes weighing 25-30 pounds. Most lifting is limited to a single food item. Duties include taping, filling, some heavy lifting at the end of the line, and breaking down boxes for recycling.

Medical Reserve Corps Member

The Sacramento Medical Reserve Corps engages volunteers to strengthen public health, emergency response, and community resiliency.

Home Energy Conservation Program

The purpose of this program is to lower energy consumption in the homes of homeowners who are low-income, and elderly, disabled or families with children. The volunteers will serve a two to four-hour weekly or biweekly (every 2 wks) shift.

Family Science Night Facilitator

Sierra Nevada Journeys is currently seeking capable volunteers to help develop the youth in the problem solvers, engineers, scientists, and critical thinkers of future generations.  Specifically, we are seeking individuals interested in facilitating evening Family Science Nights.  These educational events bring students and their families together at their school for an evening of hands-on science exploration and design challenges.

Outreach/Event Assistant

The Outreach/Event assistant will attend and assist in workshops and classes. This person will prepare and attend outreach community events. Learn how to evaluate health information. Communicating with the public and other agencies.

Help Connect People to the Services They Need!

You can help people in need simply by answering phone calls. There are over 2,400 community services available in Sacramento County; finding the right services can seem like an insurmountable task for those in need. Our volunteers help direct callers in the right direction using our database of available programs and organizations that are there to help the community. Over 83,000 people call 2-1-1 every year… you can make a difference in their lives while gaining and strengthening your own skills. We request a 4 hour per week commitment for 6 months (or equivalent).

Da Vinci Tour Guides

Da Vinci tour guides will greet guests, direct guests throughout the Museum, and describe da Vinci exhibits and artifacts. You will offer commentary and interesting exhibit facts as well as maintain safe exhibit interaction while helping to enforce the safety rules of the Museum.

Crisis Nursery Trained Volunteer

The Sacramento Children’s Home has two Crisis Nurseries serving Sacramento County. We are in need of TRAINED CRISIS NURSERY VOLUNTEERS to provide nurturing care to children age zero to five in one of our two Crisis Nurseries, ensuring their health and safety at all times, and attending to their basic needs. Additional responsibilities may include but are not limited to meal preparation, bathing, laundry, dishes, outdoor play, circle time, diaper changes, rocking, holding and feeding. Trained Volunteers are critical to the Crisis Nursery Program’s sustainability and success.

Women of Color on the Move

Women of Color On the Move are looking for Volunteers to help support in our office. They are looking for volunteers to help in answering the telephone, typing and helping to register individuals at our workshops.

AmeriCorps Home Visitor

The AmeriCorps Home Visitor shall serve as the family’s primary contact with the Birth & Beyond (B&B) Program. The Home Visitor is responsible for developing a relationship with the family and working in their home and community to build upon strengths and to enhance self-sufficiency. The Home Visitor reports to the Team Leader.

Field Educator – Outdoor Science Education

Sierra Nevada Journeys is currently seeking capable interns and volunteers with experience working with elementary-age students. Specifically, they are seeking individuals interested in leading small groups of elementary students on field-based studies at local natural areas, during the school year. Selected individuals will undergo orientation and training with Sierra Nevada Journeys, which will include classroom and field-based program observation. SNJ educators model several methods of instruction, providing examples of pedagogical methods reinforced by teacher professional development, so professionalism and a desire for excellence are tremendously important.

Serve Those Who Serve

The Service Project is looking for fully licensed mental health professionals in our community who are willing to volunteer their professional time to give back to the men and women who have served and their loved ones. We offer our pro bono therapists consultation groups, yearly seminars/conferences, and continued training with free CEU’s.

Public Program Volunteer

Do you have a passion for STEM learning or museum education? The Public Programs team at the Powerhouse Science Center offers hands-on learning experiences throughout the year, often facilitated by our volunteer pool. Our goal is to make science and technology fun and accessible to all. You do not have to be a scientist to join us, all we ask is that you are excited to inspire tomorrow’s scientists today!

Salesforce Data Entry

Goodwill Sacramento has recently partnered with several nonprofits in the communities we serve, and we are in the process of migrating all the database records from each of the NPOs into one centralized Salesforce database.  They need volunteer(s) to help with cleaning up the data to ready it for import, assistance with the migration of data, and new entry.

Help Low-Income Families Access Healthy Food at Farmers’ Markets

Alchemist CDC is operating CalFresh processing at multiple Farmers’ Markets in Sacramento. Farmers’ Markets are a great asset to communities and can lead to improved health for area residents. By making it easier for lower-income populations to purchase food at farmers’ markets, these community assets will become more equitable and accessible to all individuals.

Camp Pollock Volunteer Day

Help improve Camp Pollock! Join us at the 11-acre, former Boy Scout Camp, located on the American River on the Parkway.  Every Saturday volunteers team up with SVC staff to accomplish tasks including painting, planting, weed eradication, construction, fence building, outreach, native plant garden maintenance and more. Volunteer days are held every Saturday from 9am-1pm at Camp Pollock.

Art Kit Making

Volunteers will be assembling art kits for ReCreate school program. After the kits are assembled, ReCreate staff brings them to schools as part of our More Art, Less Waste Waste reductions education.

Getting Kids Outdoors

Sacramento Inspiring Connections Outdoors, a program of the Sierra Club, is a 100% volunteer organization that provides experiences in nature for youth who would not otherwise have the opportunity to get outdoors to learn about and enjoy nature. These outings for schoolchildren who need and deserve them, cannot happen without the help from volunteers! Volunteers can help in a variety of way: lead and assist on trips; prepare meals for outings; assist with equipment and supplies; do administrative chores; and help with fundraising!

Powerhouse Cart Crew

The Powerhouse Science Center is looking for outgoing, engaging people to interact with our visitors and direct their learning experience on the weekends.  Duties would include: Explaining the various science experiences, engaging visitors & children in informal learning opportunities, and interact with visitors demonstrating a hands-on kit.
